Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan


The Chambers Group Insurance Plan is the networks plan for its own members. Run by a board made up of regional business people and Chamber CEO’s as a not for profit plan, it is a program only available to participating members of local Chambers & Boards. It is not available without a membership.


Designed specifically for businesses with under 100 employees the program provides long-term stability through Canada’s largest pooling system, removing risk for businesses with 1-99 employees. In addition, as a not for profit the program remains highly competitive. The Chambers Plan is also continually evolving, recently adding more pieces around Wellness and technology and along with Tandem, provides the only two-way payroll and group plan administration in the country. With locally assigned advisors the plan is built to support your local chamber and its region. With hundreds of options, it offers the flexibility of a large custom plan with the stability of a nonprofit.

RCU and The Niagara on the Lake Chamber of Commerce have partnered to empower employers with CannEd, a cannabis e-learning course for employers and employees in all industries.


Given that cannabis is now legal, all employers operating in Canada must consider the impact that cannabis can have at work and during work related travel. RCU has developed an e-learning course that educates employers and employees on key information about cannabis laws, facts, and responsibilities. With this partnership, members can benefit from a 25% discount on the e-learning course.


How does education help?


● Educating employees and people managers at work ensures their safety and reduces employer liabilities

● An e-learning course allows employees to take the course based on their schedule and provides the employer with validation that they’ve reviewed and understood the information, as well as the employer’s specific policy

Niagara is a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ)


Niagara Region was designated as a Canadian Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) in 2016. This designation provides opportunities for companies and suppliers that produce goods for export to learn about and apply for duty, tax, and tariff exemptions.


There are federal, provincial, and regional incentive programs that are in place to support Canada’s exporters. Through the FTZ office, businesses will have a “one-stop-shop” to help them understand and use the programs that are in place. The FTZ office will provide information and support in the following areas:

  • incentive programs

  • mentoring services from experienced exporters

  • global networking opportunities

  • educational assistance


The Niagara FTZ is designed to provide “streamlined” access to other governmental agencies including the following:

  • Canada Revenue Agency

  • Canada Border Services Agency

  • Transport Canada

  • Export Development Canada

  • Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada

  • Global Affairs Canada
